I work primarily in traditional mediums using Celtic and Medieval themes. My recent work is inspired by Medieval illuminated manuscripts, Japanese woodblock prints, Art Nouveau, and Native American art.
I recently stumbled upon pyrography and realized that it was a perfect match to my designs. I love the character and earthy feel that the wood adds to my work. The fact that my finished pieces can be used either as decorative art or as functional items also appeals to me.
All of my pyrography is hand done. I use a Colwood Detailer with replaceable tips. My designs are all hand drawn either directly on the piece or on paper then transferred. This means that every piece is unique, even the ones that have designs that I reuse.
